All the cities who have a cultural reputation have already a typical festival, a contemporary art event, a dance festival, or other. The Long Bien Festival of Arts is proposing to give to Hanoi its place in the main international cultural events. To celebrate the millennium of Hanoi in 2010, the Maison des Arts and her Director, Mrs. Nguyen Nga, are launching a huge and original artistic project in Vietnam.
| |  | The Long Bien Festival of Arts, which will take place the 10 and 11 of October 2009, has the ambition to bring art in the street and to create a meeting place to share and discover the richness and originality of Vietnamese art from past to present, in an unusual and surprising place, the Long Bien Bridge. By its aesthic value and symbolic importance to Hanoi, the Long Bien Bridge offers an extraordinary, yet feasible setting for this festival. More than a link between two river banks, the bridge serves as a connection between the past and the present, the art and its people, Vietnam and the world. It will give a place for an artistical expression about what represent the bridge in the collective and individual memory of the people. This glance crossed between past and the present about the bridge, the city will be express into different kinds of artistically works. During the festival the bridge will link professional artists, amateurs, curators, art lovers, and the culturally curious to discover and enjoy Vietnam’s many art forms.
Bridge walk, bridge museum: During 48 hours, the bridge and its neighbourhoods will be exclusively pedestrian and will become a peace space, far from the noise of the city, offered to all and totally free.
